Qatar Desert Run
In 2002 Miles made the very first non-stop, unsupported crossing of the entire Qatar Desert from the Saudi Arabian border to the Arabian Gulf.
Miles was part of an elite endurance team headed up by Major Jay Turner (Royal Engineers), former Sandhurst Military Academy Instructor, Dr Mike Stroud OBE, who set an epic Trans-Antarctic world record with Sir Ranulph Fiennes in 1993; René Nevola, British International Triathlete and senior research scientist specialising in bio-mechanics and human survival in extreme environments and Steve Morris, a former WO2 in the Royal Engineers.
Modelling the latest in sun hats for the blind.
Teamwork – all pulling together.
There was a huge amount of kit and water to be pulled through the desert.
Queueing for a turn to sit in the shade for a few minutes.
Those carts just didn’t want to budge in the soft sand.
Only 120 miles to go across the desert pulling a 400lb cart - just a walk in the park!
