In 2000, Miles set a world record as the first blind person to man-haul a sledge over 400 kilometres across Antarctica. Frostbite prevented him from continuing his amazing bid to be the first blind person to reach the South Pole.
However, Miles' friend and sighted guide, Jon Cook, alongside two guides, completed the expedition and planted the RNIB flag at the South Pole.
Once we got used to putting the tent up it was quite snug.
The constant katabatic wind made instructions to Miles difficult to hear.
